Camera shy or petrified of Mommy?
A Thursday morning appearance on The Today Show turned awkward for Kate Gosselin when the former reality star’s twin daughters — Cara and Mady — fell completely silent during a cringe-inducing, dead-air segment. The interview was supposed to refute “inaccuracies” spread by the girls’ father and Kate’s ex Jon Gosselin — who recently claimed the family’s days on the TLC series Jon and Kate Plus 8 left the brood emotionally damaged.
Instead, the appearance prompted questions about whether the interview was at the twins’ insistence or Kate’s.
When Guthrie asked Kate whether subjecting obviously shell-shocked teenagers to a live interview on national television was a wise decision, Gosselin was adamant that Cara and Mady wanted to be on the show.
“…At this age, at 13, I can’t get them to do anything they don’t want to do…It’s not like I forced them to do it.”
Uh-huh.
After the interview, Kate tweeted that the girls’ first live TV interview rendered “even the gabbiest girls speechless.” Of course, after taking a ribbing from a host of outspoken Tweeters, Gosselin later added:
“There were no right or wrong answers…They just had a case of ‘stage fright’ #notactors.”
