Kate Middleton, the other half of heir to the British throne Prince William, has reportedly splashed out £295 (around $460) on a baby basket, with some help from her Mom, Carole.
The Duchess of Cambridge is now six-and-a-half months pregnant and took over an hour to decide exactly which basket to go for.
The 31 year-old Duchess is also said to have bought a light blue “Bugaboo” buggy. This has helped fuel speculation that the bump is a boy, but according to British gambling exchange site Betfair, home to the famous Betfair Casino, the favorites are still girls’ names – as is the sex of the baby. The current hotly-fancied name chances according to the British public which bets on the site are Alexandra, Victoria, Mary, Diana, Elizabeth, Grace and Margaret.
The sex of the baby remains slanted towards a girl as the Princess reportedly told a well-wisher on a visit who was handing Kate a teddy bear in March: “Thank you, I’ll take that for my d…” making onlookers believe she was going to say daughter. But Kate remained tight-lipped at the time, saying “we don’t know yet.”
Meanwhile, the royal Mom-to-be has been appearing regularly in public in the UK showing off her baby bump in numerous public appearances. Last week, she appeared stunning in a $60 “Topshop” black and white maternity frock, which of course sold out just a few hours later!
Since Kate and the 30 year-old Prince William, 30, announced their pregnancy to the world last December, there has been fascination around the globe at the ever-growing royal bump, its sex and name and the Princess’s fashion and lifestyle choices.
But apart from developing a taste for lavender shortbread and taking up yoga, Kate hasn’t really changed her appearance, preferring to stay with her tailored look, as opposed to the more traditional maternity wear favored by previous pregnant princesses.
The only really noticeable difference in Kate’s attire thus far is that she’s had to let the belted look go and pick out looser fitting garments to accommodate what will be the latest heir to the British throne due in mid July. If the new royal addition arrives a little earlier early, he or she could share birthdays with William’s Mom, the late Princess Diana, who was born on July 1st 1961.
Kate is reportedly planning to move in to her parents’ house in Berkshire for six weeks after the royal birth.
